  • RCA: Resolution Forbidding Orthodox Women Rabbis Is Not Halachically Binding

    In response to an RCA member’s saying the resolution forbidding Orthodox women rabbis wasn’t presented as halacha, I sent an inquiry to the RCA asking for clarification, since R’ Shmuel Goldin told reporters last week that RCA resolutions “have the status of halachic decisions.”

    Here’s Goldin’s e-mail taking a more moderate stance:

    I did not mean to say that the resolution represents a P’sak Halacha (halachic mandate) but, rather, that it is a decision based upon halachic principles and considerations- as well as other significant factors.
