First, Steven I. Weiss speaks with the former editor of feminist website Jezebel.com, Anna Holmes, about The Book of Jezebel, a kind of encyclopedia of Holmes’ and Jezebel’s “sensibility,” with entries on all things pertaining to women’s experiences.
Then, the author of A Jewish Ceremony for Newborn Girls: The Torah’s Covenant Affirmed, Sharon R. Siegel, tells Weiss about her research on the long history of rituals welcoming baby girls into the Jewish covenant and community, and how she chose to mark the births of her own daughters.
